The Rab Microlight Alpine Mens Jacket couples effective down insulation inside with weather-resistant Pertex Microlight outer fabric in a streamlined package that gives you the maximum warmth with minimal weight. Roomy, zipped pockets give you ample room for essentials, and the whole jacket can be packed away into the supplied stuff sack (in some older versions it stuffs into its own pocket) for easy storage or to make a usable pillow. Rab’s fluorocarbon free Hydrophobic Down is their usual high quality European down, but treated with a water-repelling coating so it’s more water resistant and will maintain its loft. It performs more effectively in damp conditions than untreated down – it absorbs less water, dries faster, retains loft and is fluorocarbon free. Stitch-through baffle construction helps to keep the down in place, preventing cold spots from developing. Its narrow-baffled construction prevents the down fill from spreading or bunching and gives maximum loft, and the fixed insulated hood (with positionable peak) gives you supreme protection from winter weather. Clean lines and a slim silhouette mean that the Rab Microlight Alpine mens jacket works very well as a layering piece under a waterproof shell, for climbing or other alpine pursuits – but it’s equally at home if you’re lightweight backpacking, or just wearing it day-to-day in cold conditions.
